For what seemed like all her life, Diana Carrick has taken care of the home her father was bailiff for. Now, she has a chance to claim the home as her own and only has to sell her soul and morals to declare it hers.
Tarquin Vale, Earl of Ashcroft, has a reputation as a rake, a man who has gone through countless lovers. But he has grown tired of his role and wants to put it all behind him.
Diana goes to Tarquin in hopes of convincing him to become her lover. But she never expected to feel passion for him, especially considering her motives are less than stellar. Vale knows something besides Diana’s desire to learn about passion is behind her request, and he sets out to find the truth. Somewhere along the way Diana began to fall for the reformed rake, but it may be too late as all her plans begin to fall neatly in place, making her realize what a mistake she has made.
The storyline in My Reckless Surrender is both as old as time and yet unique. Ms. Campbell gives us a selfish woman, determined to grasp something no matter who she has to step on, and then shows us a woman who begins to change as her feelings become involved. For me, Vale was never the rake he was rumored to be as his caring and compassionate ways shined through. I love the hinted American cousin at the end of the book, which hopefully means another intriguing tale to come. I recommend this story for anyone who enjoys reading a romance that will leave your heart all aflutter.
