MY PERFECT WEDDING
Rating: 4 Cups
Helen is a photographer, a very accident prone one. She is in love with her best friend’s brother, and has recently found out that he feels the same about her.
Kalem is a Turkish Cypriot artist and teacher. He has just gotten the post of his dreams in North Cyprus as a professor in the local university. He is also engaged to the woman he has loved for most of his life, with the approval of his family.
Kalem and Helen are moving to North Cyprus to take up Kalem’s new position of Professor of Art and Woodcarving. As usual with Helen, things start to go wrong almost as soon as they leave home, and soon spiral out of control. Helen’s dream of a perfect wedding is further away than ever.
Ms. Hodge does a great job of combining her own heritage and its customs and quirks with a great sense of humor and romantic spirit. Helen and Kalem’s love story has been anything but smooth, but the two are truly destined for each other. Helen’s accident prone ways only get worse once she leaves England, and her adventures are even more bizarre and funny than the last story. The fun never stops and you will find yourself laughing out loud at odd moments throughout the story. Ms. Hodge is rapidly becoming a favorite of mine.
