Phoebe Wallington was a young child when her father was falsely accused of being involved with a terrible assassination. She promised to find out the real truth behind the incident.

Kiernan MacGregor is the Marquees of Ashlund and has some enemies who would like to see him dead. One is on his trail and intends on getting rid of anyone who comes in contact with him.

Phoebe is a British spy working on a conspiracy surrounding her father, falsely accused of a crime. Now, years later, she hopes to uncover the truth. To make matters worse, she has been kidnapped and mistaken for someone else. Her investigation into her father's past must not be hindered. She demands to be released. Kiernan has his own agenda and it seems Phoebe's abduction has interfered with its completion. She is not too impressed with her first encounter with Kiernan, even though he has charm that practically sweeps her off her feet. Neither have time for any flirtation and fight their desire. The killer has his own agenda, even if it means killing Phoebe after he kills Kiernan.

My Highland Lord is truly an outstanding book. Phoebe and Kiernan are an incredible couple who really put a great spin on the story. They were likable characters who immediately clicked and grabbed hold of this reader. Their romance and chemistry grew better with each turn of the page. Tarah Scott definitely knows how to add suspense and conspiracy, then blend it with some romance along the way to make this a book that devours the audience. Add some charm sprinkled with great banter along the way, and this couple sticks to the heart and takes the reader on an adventure of a lifetime.
