Nanci Cromwell is a commercial artist. As if her life could be any more complicated, her ex-husband, Gene, is using their six-year old son, Matt, to try and coax Nanci to take him back. Between her work, Matt, and going to meetings to help her deal with her divorce and her overeating issues, Nanci does not have time for a social life.
Scott Guilford is a former Air Force pilot. Divorced with no children, he is ready to find love again. A trip to the planetarium will change his life forever.
Nanci is not sure she is ready for romance when she accepts a date with Ralph, a man from her divorce group. He is a nice guy, but she keeps comparing him to her ex-husband, Gene, who is using their son to spy on her. One afternoon, Nanci and Matt encounter a man who is the epitome of everything she desires in a man. One thing leads to another, and that leads to Matt becoming comfortable with his parents’ divorce. Nanci just needs some self-confidence to avoid pushing Scott away.
What a beautiful romance! Nanci is such a special character. I could relate to her on so many levels. There are so many issues Nanci is facing that many women face, especially the body image problem. It was a joy to read this story and to watch Nanci and Matt mend a relationship Gene was dead-set on destroying. The characters grew and healed as each page was turned. Ms. MacGregor handles the ugliness of the various issues with an inspired touch of class. This is a one of those books that touches a reader deep down in their soul.
