MADISON MURPHY, WISCONSIN WEIRDO
Rating: 4 Cups
Madison Murphy is a bit plump, thanks to her love of beer, brats, and cheese, but she does live in Wisconsin. She has a bit of a dead end job and drinks a bit too much. Her nosey neighbor is determined to change all that.
Max King is one hundred and twenty years old, and a lawyer. He is also a lion shifter and sees himself as the Robin Hood of shifters. He tries to help new shifters get oriented to their new condition, but there is something about Madison.
A drunken one-night stand leaves Madison coughing up hairballs and turning into a chunky Siberian tiger. Apparently we all evolved from different animals and when infected with the shifter virus, turn into the animal we evolved from. Harold, the one-night stand, is a dog, in more ways than one apparently, but he does give her a telephone number to call for help. Max, the handsome lion shifter attorney, is interested in more than just mentoring Madison, but then so is another faction of the shifter world. Madison has never been so popular, if they would only stop hitting her over the head and tying her up.
This is an interesting take on the paranormal romance. Madison is definitely not your average heroine. She is feisty, sarcastic, and a bit abrasive. She and Max are definitely an odd couple and I had a hard time picturing them together, but the interaction between the two was the best part of the story. The other characters are equally odd and entertaining, particularly Sophie, her nosy neighbor. You are going to love the animal she ends up shifting into.
