Donovan Creed is a former CIA agent. He still works for the government and freelances as a killer for hire. He is the father of a teenage daughter and divorced. He sleeps in a prison cell or, when he is on a job, in basements and attics.
Kathleen Gray is a survivor. A victim of severe spousal abuse, she divorced her ex and started a new life. She spends a lot of her time in the children’s’ burn unit of a hospital. There she met little Addie who lost her whole family in a house fire.
Donovan Creed is a ruthless killer, but something about Kathleen Gray makes him want to be a better person. The thought of Kathleen’s brutal ex-husband marrying his ex-wife brought them together and a severely burned little girl cements the bond. Donovan’s real life cannot be ignored, particularly his most recent employer, a quadriplegic midget with dreadlocks, and a mob boss who is responsible for Addie’s condition.
This book is really aimed at fans of spy stories and as such is full of action. There is an incredible amount of violence in the book, and despite his professed feelings for Kathleen, he spends quite a bit of time with “escorts” in the book. I really did not care for the uber macho Creed, but the plot line can be quite gripping. Fans of James Bond would definitely give this one another cup.
