Rebeka Tyler is a woman of books and studies when she learns she has inherited a wealth of old tomes and property. Visiting the inheritance, she takes a tour and sees mysterious standing stones. Surrounded by them, holding her father’s walking stick, something happens that doesn’t fit with anything she knows or understands. Now, faced with an arrogant lord and a world that can only be the past, she struggles to get back to the present.
Arik, Lord and master of his family’s property, knows the weight of responsibility. Having failed his family once, he is determined to protect them at all costs. When the mysterious woman comes to his lands with magic in her eyes and temptation in her very touch, Arik is torn on what he is to do. But his body has no such qualms…
Together they face very dark forces at work to destroy all that they both hold dear. Using old books to search for answers, treacherous fiends are lurking around every corner. Will they learn to depend on one another before it is too late? Or will they both be too proud to admit that the thing they need most is each other?
This book started out slow for me, but once it picked up, it sucked me in like the time vortex that caught Rebeka between the standing stones. Danger and a sexy lord are always fun to read about, but Arik isn’t your typical lord of the manor type. He is intelligent, tender, and Rebeka is a good match for him. Once the author gave us hints of Druid magic and tattoos of runes, I couldn’t put it down, making the slow start well worth it in the end.
