Mia James is well known for her career as a war correspondent. When she is sent to a small town due to a possible political scandal, she never expects to find her life turned upside down.
Gabe Montgomery wants Mia and he is willing to do whatever it takes to get her. Now that she has come to town to investigate the disappearance of a young political aid, Gabe hopes he will get the chance for love and revenge all in one shot.
Mia comes face to face with Gabe and she cannot figure out if she wants to punch him or kiss him. Meanwhile, an unfriendly ghost is making her presence known in the house that Mia is staying in. There is a mystery surrounding her death and the ghostly apparition is determined to get the journalist’s help on solving her murder. Can Mia figure out an old mystery and a new mystery while keeping her heart intact?
I loved the aura that surrounded this story. It had a gothic feel to it. The way Mia attacked the overwhelming hurdles that suddenly appeared in her life gave reference to Ms. Carlton’s idea that Mia is a strong and independent woman. I also thought it was great how the author shows Gabe as being the “bad boy” in the small town even as we as readers got to see inside his heart to the love he had for Mia. Add in the steaminess of the romance, the ghost who means to get her mystery solved, and a politician willing to go any distance to get the agenda he has planned and you will find yourself involved from the first page to the last with the book entitled Jaded.
