Completely freaking out and falling apart would be so easy right now, but Poppy Wyatt does everything she can to hold onto her sanity. She is getting married in less than two weeks, so she has more than enough time to find her engagement ring, which just happens to be a priceless family heirloom. No worries.
In a job like his, time is of the essence, so Sam Roxton is very good at prioritizing. Emails, texts, and pointless demands from his staff get fielded by his PA, but when she bails, Sam has a whole set of problems he could never have envisioned.
Not only did she lose her ring, but now Poppy has had her lifeline snatched right out of her hand. Her cell phone is practically another appendage, and when she finds one in the trash it is like a gift from heaven. Purely by accident Poppy and Sam become inseparable as she forwards his messages, but when she responds to several on her own, things become a whole lot stickier. Someone is out to hurt a friend of Sam’s, and Poppy is the only one who could possibly have the answers, but she has her own share of problems about to erupt.
Poppy is the kind of girl who always tries to see the bright side of everything, and even in the face of extreme tension, she has a way of making you smile. Her energy is infectious, and I love how hard she tries to engage Sam’s soft side. Sam tries valiantly to be rough and gruff, but it is fruitless in the face of Poppy’s optimism. This story is fun, lively, and really makes you hope for the best for both of these characters.
