The only person that Dr. Sara Whitney has ever been able to rely on is herself. Men have always been a disappointment from as far back as her father, and it has just become easier to keep her heart to herself.
Being dead has really given Detective Romo Sampson plenty of time to think. Introspectiveness was never his strong suit, but by faking his own death he found the one thing he could not live without.
Bear Claw Creek is still being crippled by the terrorist al-Jihad, and Sara can barely keep her head above water with the bodies piling up. She leaves her office in exhaustion, but what she finds at home is as thrilling as it is terrifying. Romo is running for his life, not knowing who or what he is, but instinctively finds his way to Sara. Anger, fear, and elation war inside Sara’s heart at Romo’s return, but her “no second-chance” rule clamors in her head.
Every aspect of this story is filled with drama whether it is physical or emotional. It runs non-stop and is nearly exhausting in its intensity. Sara’s prickly personality is the perfect foil for Romo’s deadly calm, but the passion they have for each other is never in question. The Bear Claw Creek series culminates with this spine tingling read, and it is worth every minute.
