While life is not going quite the way she imagined it would, Lake Warren is trying to make the best of it. A marketing consultant with a lot of big clients, Lake’s business is going well, especially with the Park Avenue fertility clinic as a new client. Her personal life is in an upheaval due to the demands of her soon-to-be-ex husband, Jack.
Doctor Mark Keaton is in New York doing some work for the Park Avenue fertility clinic. Joining the staff would be a good step for him, but one little snag may keep him from becoming part of the clinic.
Lake is having some problems with Jack. He is reneging on his original agreement to joint custody of their two children, Amy and Will. On a whim, she goes back to Mark's apartment one evening. A one night stand with Dr. Keaton has Lake in hot water. Dr. Keaton was found murdered in his bed. Because of the ongoing custody battle, Lake has told no one she was asleep on Mark’s terrace when he was murdered. All arrows point to someone on the Park Avenue staff. On top of that, Park Avenue is doing some questionable procedures and Lake is caught in the middle. Was Mark murdered because he knew too much about what happened behind the closed doors of the fertility clinic? Or was there more to the situation than anyone else could know?
I could feel the icy chills tingle down my spine as I began this book. With the whirlwind of problems dancing around Lake, it was hard to even attempt to guess who was after her. In the midst of it all, she remained as calm as she could. Hush is one of those stories you immediately want to recommend to a friend. It is full of mystery and suspense, enough that I found myself holding my breath as I turned the page. Ms. White certainly has a talent for making a reader’s blood run cold as they read chapter after chapter.
