Lady Minerva Sharpe dares to thwart society’s idea that she should be some respectable lady by writing novels. Instead of writing flowery poetry, she has the gall to write gothic novels that include blood and romance.
Giles Masters is looking forward to a future in the King’s Counsel, a huge step up from being a public defender. He is looking to acquire a wife and has his sight set on Minerva.
Minerva decides the only way to call her grandmother’s ultimatum of marrying is to call her bluff. So she devises a plan to get Giles to pretend to court her, not realizing that he is serious with his intentions of marriage. But in a time when danger lurks around every corner, Giles has secrets that he refuses to reveal to Minerva since they could mean her life. Can she come to trust the man she has always loved, even when he holds back, or will she finally give up on him after so many years?
Ms. Jeffries always has a way of spinning a tale to keep the reader interested from page one. How to Woo a Reluctant Lady is a tale full of historical details, intriguing characters, and romance steamy enough to keep you warm on a cold winter’s night. The way Giles goes out of his way to make sure Minerva sees him for who he really is and not the pretentious rogue he’s thought to be, gives life to this book. Then you have his secretive past, which comes back to haunt him, giving the reader a hint of the passionate argument that will happen between Giles and Minerva. If you like a sexy man, a strong heroine, mysterious secrets, and some family members determined to push Minerva in the “right” direction, then you will totally enjoy this novel.
