Leah McKenzie is an associate at a very prominent law firm. When her boss asks her to bring him a private file, she never thinks twice about it. But when she witnesses his murder, she becomes a target and is on the run for her life, painted as the main suspect in the homicide.
John Miller is an Amish man who has lived amongst the Englishers for a time. Returned home to the Amish community, he uses his woodworking skills to make custom made furniture. He is also the one to find Leah and her crashed car one night, so takes her home to his family.
Escaping into an Amish community provides Leah with things she is not sure she can ever handle–the hope to meet her grandmother, who has shunned her mother years before, and a place to hide while finding a way to prove her innocence. But she also gains more than she ever expects.
Her Amish Man is a bit sweet and has a bit of mystery as well. I think John and Leah are meant for each other. They understand issues they each must face, even though it takes a bit for both to reveal the truth. I enjoy the background characters, whose underlying stories perk up an otherwise bland story. But Ms. Bates blends the elements of the characters to intermingle through the story. A great read for fans of Amish Fiction.
