Like many second born sons of wealthy and powerful families, Ashrian Mithani has no real need to be involved in the day-to-day running of the family businesses. In fact the endless meetings bore him to death, and he would much rather spend his time in more pleasurable pursuits.
It is both a blessing and a curse to be born a healer, especially one as gifted as Eiren Sarvan. He is at the beck and call of the people at all hours of the day and night, making it very hard to have a stable and happy relationship.
Ashrian is so fed up with Eiren constantly being called away for one ailment or another that he does the one thing Eiren can never pardon. If in the past his dalliances have always been forgiven when not forgotten, this time the pain he causes Eiren cuts to the core. Ashrian is devastated at Eiren’s departure, even more at his return with a man so kind and sweet that also Ash can see their love at a glance. Ashrian vows to make things right with Eiren, starting with being a real man, not just a lazy playboy that no one takes seriously.
The setting of this story is wonderfully unique, centering on an entire race consisting solely of men. This may all be laid out in previous books, although not having the back history in any way detracts from the enjoyment of this tale. In this book, Ashrian is on a personal journey, which involves plenty of pain and heartache as he grows emotionally. He needs to find his own worth, and the path he takes gives this read a wealth of honesty and passion.
