True Blood Mate Book 1
Erotic Romance, Alternative (M/M or F/F), Paranormal, Vampires/Werewolves

Darren Hart is a veterinarian who truly loves working with animals. He has been living with a man’s voice in his head for ten years, the result of a header he took off a cliff. He would have died if it were not for a gorgeous stranger who saved him and kept him alive until help could arrive. Darren is convinced the voice is not real and just in his head.
Asher Grayson is the man that saved Darren and Darren’s mate. Ten years before after claiming Darren he had to let him go because his clan was at war and he did not want Darren getting hurt or worse yet, killed. Also, not everyone in his clan will accept a male mate, throw in the fact that Darren is human and he has a real mess on his hands. But that does not mean he has not been keeping tabs on Darren for the last decade by speaking to him through their mate bond.
When Asher contacts Darren through their mate bond one evening, it becomes clear that there is more going on than Asher previously knew. When someone drops off a box of puppies at Darren’s clinic and then huge dogs show up and basically threaten the puppy’s lives, Darren is willing to risk it all to save them. With the help from the voice in his head, Darren is able to rescue the puppies, but the bad guys or shifters in this case though Darren does not know that at the time, are hot on his trail. Asher makes the decision to go after Darren and the puppies and bring them all to safety. There is only one problem, the puppies are also shifters and belong to a rival clan. Top that with the fact that there are those within Asher’s clan who will do anything to separate him from Darren, even murder and you have a real mess. Will Asher be able to find the traitors within his own clan? Will Darren survive being the alpha mate, or will something separate these two just as they are finally able to be together?
This is definitely another winner from Ms. Glenn, in my opinion! I absolutely loved Darren’s whole, “yeah, prove it, big guy!” stance. Totally had me cracking up in a lot of places. I also really loved the tenderness that Asher shows towards Darren and his willingness to show his soft side to him. The strength of both these characters is a testament to their strength of character, and this shows through many times throughout the book. The world building definitely takes a completely different tone from Ms. Glenn’s other werewolf books, but in a very good way. This is truly one of the things that kept me coming back for more, the fact that she can take an idea or theme and create vastly different worlds and stories around it. Not all authors have that ability, but Ms. Glenn has it in spades. This is definitely a wonderful start to a whole new series and I for one am waiting with baited breath for the next installment!
