Green Pines, Book 1
Rating: 4 Cups
Eden Green is a librarian in the small town she grew up in. She mostly has kept to herself over the years to protect her family’s secrets. She is intelligent, stubborn, and very attractive.
Jay Ancheta is the local sheriff and a wolf shifter. He has long been attracted to Eden, but he has to keep his shifter side a secret from the local population, including Eden.
Eden is not unfamiliar with werewolves, as her cousin was born one, but Jay does not know this and is hiding his other nature. That is, until one night when a disturbance is reported at Eden’s family farm. Eden’s cousin is back with what remains of his small pack, and they are being hunted by a violent and vicious pack of rogue wolves. Eden is bitten and Jay no longer has to hold back, but there are a few large issues to be taken care of before he can settle down with the woman he wants as his mate.
This story starts out with a bang and the action rarely lets up until the very exciting climax of the story. Eden is a strong character and it is no surprise that she is an alpha after she is turned. Jay is perfect for the job of Sheriff of Clover. He is strong and has a firm sense of right and wrong. Eden needs a fair person like him to help her with her new family. The other characters are well-written and thoroughly fleshed out. I particularly liked Jay’s group of friends. The little pack her cousin is trying to protect is sad but brave, and I am looking forward to reading about what happens to each of them in the future. Zack, Eden’s cousin, is a particularly complicated and troubled character, and I am dying to find out his fate also.
