Destiny Dove has been dislodged from the only place she has ever known and lost her beloved parents and baby brother in a horrific car accident. On top of that, she is forced to live with her grandmother who is rumored to be a batty old woman who thinks she is a witch.
Jake Turner is the star football player, rodeo hero, boyfriend of the most popular girl in school, and all around nice guy. When he first spies Destiny, he rides over to introduce himself as well as his beautiful girlfriend, Amy.
Amy does not like the way Destiny is eyeing her boyfriend and proceeds to both verbally and visually warn the new girl off with huge hints of hands off. As Destiny continues to try to fit in, she finds out how hard it is. Between Amy threatening her, finding out her grandmother is not as loony as she thought, possessed furniture, ghosts suddenly trying to communicate with her, and the feelings of survival guilt she has going on, Destiny is ready to shack up in her bedroom and never come out. But when Jake pleads for her help in saving Amy and her family, Destiny knows she must do all she can, even if it means losing her own life in the process.
Haunted Destiny is the story of Destiny Dove and her coming to terms with the loss of her family as well as having gifts that could help others. Ms. Abell is spot on in the world of teen angst and trying to fit in. Each character portrayed within this novel packs a powerful punch and leaves the reader with a keen sense of what role they play within the storyline. The suspense was chilling, and had me wondering what would happen next. An extremely well-written novel fit for any reader whether you are a teenager or an adult.
