Seeing the sunshine, going on a date, and having a friend to hang out with are all unattainable for Gillian Stone. She may have more money than she can ever spend, but a family curse keeps her very close to home.
He may have a huge chip on his shoulder when it comes to the filthy rich, but Darth Hunter is not above taking a job on the Stone Estate if it allows him to take care of his younger sister and keep them together. Darth just needs to keep his mouth shut and do his job, but his new boss really pushes all of his buttons.
Gillian takes to the night like a bullet shot from a gun. Her days spent trapped inside a marble prison make her nights all the more precious, but Darth is quickly becoming a giant obstacle to her freedom. Darth cannot fathom why Gillian vanishes every morning, and it is driving him nuts that she puts herself in so much danger at night. There is a predator lurking in the shadows just waiting to take advantage of Gillian’s fortune, but the cost to Gillian and her faithful companion is much more deadly than monetary.
The appeal of this story for a younger reader is easily recognizable. Gillian’s character is an ultra tough teen on the verge of womanhood, who can drive fast, hit hard, and love with all of her heart. Darth too has all of the ear-marks of the bad boy you cannot get enough of. Their dialogue as well as some of their antics can get a bit over the top, but the underlying story is fun to read and full of adventure.
