For four years, Marcus has been with the closeted Professor.
Professor Treadwell always seems embarrassed by his desire for a man. Whenever he has sex with Marcus, it seems to be as quick as possible, and he seems to become more disgusted with himself as time marches on.
Eric is a basketball player and all around great guy. A star athlete, he wants Marcus.
Marcus must decide whom he wants to be with. At first, it seems like a no-brainer. The professor treats him like some secret that is to horrible to let out. But as he continues to flip flop between Eric and the professor, Marcus realizes that his decision is not as easy as it seems.
I must say when I first started reading Goodbye Scrooge, I was put off a little by Professor Treadwell’s treatment of Marcus. However, as I got further into the story and saw the struggle that is going on, his actions are more understandable. I can only imagine how much any person must go through as they struggle with their sexuality and, thanks to Jaime Samms, this tale really helps to open my eyes to what a person feels as their sexual needs go topsy-turvy. As the book comes close to the end, I was very happy to see the different obstacles give way as Eric, Marcus, and the professor figure out where they stand in each others’ life.
