Lucy Waltham has grown up with only men in her life, so of course they began teaching her some very unladylike habits. When she becomes completely and utterly infatuated with one of those men, she decides she must become more ladylike in order to catch Toby’s attention.

Jeremy Trescott, the Earl of Kendall, is considered a very cold and dominant man. As one of the men who have helped raise Lucy, he feels slightly responsible for all her shortcomings as a lady of the ton. Then, something unexpected happens to change the way Jeremy looks at his best friend’s little sister -- she grows up right before his eyes.

With a new scheme in mind, Lucy goes to Jeremy to try her seductive wiles on him. If she can get him to notice her, the cold unfeeling man he is, then surely Toby will be a walk in the park. What starts off as a lesson in seduction quickly turns into something much more. Soon Lucy realizes that Jeremy is definitely hot enough to melt ice, but it may be too late, as their circumstances get them into some irreversible complications.

Goddess of the Hunt by Ms. Dare is a very compelling and intense novel about how sometimes love is right under your nose. For the most part, this story is very well written with funny anecdotes told by both main characters, although after a great start, the story does slow down partway, finally picking up about halfway through. What I love about this book is that Lucy starts off as a very spoiled girl who very quickly has to grow up and realize the man she thinks she loves is not the man for her, and ends up putting herself in a predicament where she thinks she must become very staid and ladylike for Jeremy, the man she must marry. In a gift almost of the magi sense, Jeremy keeps explaining that Lucy must become more demure, more like the lady of the manor, but once she does, it is not anything like the Lucy he has fallen for. This book is written by a never before published author who has started the series off with a bang that is a must read novel for all!
