FUR BALL FEVER
Rating: 3 Cups
Grace Donnelly is the owner of a pet spa. She is beautiful, brave, and a bit impulsive. She lives with her aunt, a not so ex-hippie ex-nun. Said aunt is always in trouble.
Nick Jackson is the chief of security for a gated community and a private investigator. He is handsome and a bit overprotective, and still in love with Grace.
Grace is dog sitting the leading contender for the annual Fur Ball, when the poodle is kidnapped from her home. In addition to her worry over the dog’s safety, her reputation is in serious jeopardy. A shady restauranteur, a slimy preacher, and a cast of other colorful characters are Grace’s suspects as she and Nick search for the purloined pooch.
This is a funny story with appealing and sometimes bizarre characters. Grace is a spunky character and very likable, as is the chivalrous Nick. The story tends to drag a bit in the middle, but there are some very funny scenes that more than make up for the slow parts. I did wonder how she found the time to run her dog spa, but loved the mixture of comedy, romance, mystery, and canines.
