Some people would have no luck at all if not for bad luck, and Guy Fractious is one of those people. Barely scraping by, getting mugged, and now seeing a little man with a bright green top hat walking into a tree has Guy worrying that he may have finally slipped off of the deep end.
No way, no how does Cu want to be responsible for the doofiest human he has ever come across, but the choice is not his to make. Humans only see his kind after a good conk on the head, and it is up to him to take them on a journey.
If it were not so hysterically funny, Guy would probably be scared out of his wits. He is a scrawny little twerp in his world but to Cu’s people, he is nearly a giant, and as such they want him to slay their mortal enemy. Cu is the most foul-mouthed and obnoxious little person he has ever encountered, but Guy has little choice in trusting him. As they commence on the most bizarre journey Guy could ever imagine, he slowly comes to realize that maybe he has found something special within all of this craziness.
If you could take Shrek, Alice in Wonderland, and the creepy little people from the Wizard of Oz, throw them in a blender and whip them up, you would have a close approximation for the plotline to this story. Guy is very much your atypical hero, and his sidekick is a real kick in the pants. There is a good bit of humor throughout, although in my opinion most is what I categorize as “guy humor”, sometimes women get, but we mostly just shake our heads. It is a light, entertaining read if you are not looking for deep introspection, and just want to have a fun time.
