Madeleine d’Albermarle, Maddie, is the new housekeeper to Lord Garon. When he arrives from his journey, she must not allow him to recognize her while she seduces him.
Lord Garon has faced many horrors in Palestine. Now he arrives home to a new housekeeper who seems to believe him to be an ogre.
Maddie has a huge deed to perform and that is to get Lord Garon drunk enough to seduce him. It is important she keeps her wits about the night, especially when his watchful gaze has a way of making her feel uneasy. Garon says he will never take a wife since he has nothing to offer, yet one seductive night with the innocent Maddie and they become connected. He never thought hope and love would come his way but Maddie proves differently. Garon finds Maddie insatiable when it comes to their lovemaking. She just cannot get enough of him. Everything seems to go well until her stepfather arrives, leaving Garon to confront him. Can Garon keep her safe but more importantly can he fill her insatiable urges or will she have to seek another to keep her satisfied?
First Knight is a well constructed story with well-drawn characters. Delilah Devlin paints a story visual to the reader. I could get a feel of the surroundings and could share in what Garon must have felt when he was referred to as an ogre. This heated tale keeps the reader on the edge, with twists and turns, and sizzling moments that unexpectedly surprise. The reader will fall in love with Maddie and Garon, and the new life they make for themselves as husband and wife. I found this a fascinating read and enjoyed how the beginning, middle and ending all had some special qualities blended into it.
