Lily Davis Woodward was only married to her husband for two weeks before he left for WWII. It has been over three years since she last saw him.
Jake Russo has grown up around fireworks all of his life. He has been commissioned to use his gift in celebration of all the soldiers returning home.
Lily is frustrated and confused with all the crazy feelings her body and mind is experiencing. When she notices the fireworks she stops but does not expect the events that afterward unfold. What follows are five of the most memorable and treasured times of her life, and she knows that Jake is the man she would have married if she had met him first. When it comes time to make a decision, will Lily choose love or responsibility?
Fireworks Over Toccoa is the type of story that takes you back to a place when every moment in a person’s life is precious, and time seems to stand still. The struggle Lily has with her duty versus her heart made my own heart wrench for the torn feelings she had. Adding all the emotional upheavals she is feeling over her husband’s return shows the reader how it must have been for women who were in the same boat of being married to men who went overseas after such a short time together. Jeffrey Stepakoff uses heart and realistic circumstances to write his story, and his written story is comparable to those who enjoy a Nicholas Sparks’ novel. This is a fantastic tale that will leave you breathless, full of joy and hope as well as overcome with sadness and despair.
Caution: Make sure to have a box of tissues by you when reading this novel…you will need them!
