Three centuries ago Marcus Dagotto took the life of his would-be mate Eliza. Never will he forget that pain or the curse that is destroying his race.
Not being able to bear children is a burden Cassandra Jensen will carry for the rest of her life. Her ex's rejection because of this fact is now why she guards her heart against any chance of being hurt like that again.
Marcus and his warrior brothers have lost so much it is hard to remember their life before the war with Drayos. Getting a second chance to have a mate should be a blessing; instead Marcus feels like it is more of a curse when the woman in question is a human. Learning that Marcus is a vampire is almost more than Cassie can comprehend, which has her second guessing any attraction between them. The continued existence of both humans and vampires depends on stopping Drayos, but for the first time ever Marcus knows the true meaning of fear when the demon sets his sights on Cassie.
Cassie and Marcus's story is like many others in this genre; average human woman meets godlike vampire and the fates deem them to be mates. Although getting attacked by Hell's minions does add a certain amount of spice to their typical ups and downs. I would, however, love to see more variety in the drama being played out. Mainly I find this story to be fairly typical with its characters as well as its execution.
