Angela Giacomelli was a police officer in Baltimore, Maryland. After being raped and mutilated by a human trafficker, she got her revenge by going rogue and killing the man. Kicked off the force and sentenced to prison, Angela disappeared off the radar and Jax Cassidy, L.O.S.T., agent was born.
Marcus Cross was a sniper on a mission with his platoon in Afghanistan when he was left for dead. Joseph Lazarus saved him and turned him into the ideal threat against enemies of The Solution. Lately, he is beginning to question his creator’s decisions. This is only unusual because Marcus is a vampire.
Jax is recruited as the first female agent for L.O.S.T. Godfather, the L.O.S.T boss, figures she will be able to go where the male agents cannot. A United States senator calls on L.O.S.T. for help when he gets threats from Lazarus; threats that are getting too close to home. Godfather sends in his best agent, Jax, to take down Lazarus’s assassin, Marcus Cross. In order to do so, she has to make him trust her enough to get her hired on as an agent for The Solution. No one could have foreseen the fact that Marcus’s bite may be what Jax desires most and Jax’s life may mean more to Marcus than his own.
The world of secret undercover agencies is not so hard to imagine. I would never have dreamed of finding myself entangled in the world of L.O.S.T, however. I developed an admiration for Angela/Jax from the very start. She is strong and defiant, yet she hides a lot from prying eyes. I found her strength so appealing especially as she battles internally between the mission and desire. Ms. Harlow has gained a new fan with this book. I cannot wait to see which agent tells their story next.
