Brian is an EMT, openly gay, and has a good life minus a significant other.
Stephen is an emergency room doctor, in an unhappy marriage, and confused about his sexuality. One night while drinking with his best friend Brian, he confides in his marital woes.
When it comes time to split up from his wife, Stephen finds himself rooming with Brian. Being the helpful friend he is, the EMT leaves gay pornographic movies and reading material around to help Stephen. As the friends continue their living arrangement their closeness begins to turn from just friends into something more. Soon they will have to decide if they want to explore the new sexual feelings they have for each other or just stay friends.
Emergency is a fun yet poignant story about finding oneself after thinking all self-discovery is over. Drew Zachary shows the reader the struggles and pitfalls that a man might have as he comes to terms with his own sexuality. I thought the way Brian helps him discover who and what he is was beautifully written and shows us a softer, more romantic, and sometimes funny side of gay romance. I will now be on the lookout for more books from this talented author.
