Lady Martise St. James is on the hunt for clues to a mystery. She wants to find out how her best friend Mary died, as well as recover the emerald that is rightfully hers.
Laird Bruce Creeghan knows right away that all is not what it seems with Martise. Determined to find out all he can about the beautiful American woman, he warns her that he will seduce her if given the chance.
As Martise begins to unravel the skeletons in the cupboard and mysteries that shroud the castle, she finds herself beginning to fall for the handsome but very dangerous Laird. Bruce is keeping secrets of his own and the answers will shock Martise. For in finding out the truth, she will discover a person is not always who they seem to be. Will it be too late for Martise as it was for all the past Creeghan brides, or will Bruce be able to prove his innocence and save the woman he has come to love before the murderer strikes again?
Emerald Embrace is one of those books that can be bewildering at times, yet there is so much intensity, passion, mystery, and danger that a reader can easily overlook the confusion. Shannon Drake writes with a voice that has such a wealth of imagination, I could almost hear the thunder crackle and the lightning illuminate the room as I read. Bruce is a man on a mission, and we see him as a man determined to find the truth, even if it kills him. Martise is a contradiction, swearing she is not afraid, and then cringing at her surroundings. This is definitely a thrilling read, one that will have you guessing until the very end.
