Samantha Fairchild is just having a busy night at work and trying to get the bottle of wine that her customer ordered when a hitman shoots his target with her as the only witness. To make matters worse, he takes the security camera that she knows has footage of her viewing the whole thing. Pulling out a wig from Halloween, she runs to the one person she think might help… and finds the last person she expected to.
Zach once held Samantha in his arms and heart and when, in the dark of night, she plunges back into his life, he finds his chance to hold on but doesn’t feel he deserves it. Scarred both emotionally and physically, he has to protect her. But will she be the one who ends up saving him?
On the run and with the authorities not helping to protect her, Samantha and Zach are up against professionals… and may end up hurting each other far more than any professional killer could.
Full of action, emotional growth and passion hot enough to steam up my glasses in this fast-paced suspense. St. Clair does an excellent job not just at world and plot building but also at the depth of the relationship between her two lead characters. A flawed hero and a brave, clever heroine make this romance twist and turn and rocked this author to the top of my list for future reading.
