With an already heavy work-load, Detective Neil Slater is called in to find a missing girl. Essentially, it is like searching for a needle in a haystack, especially during an Olympic Games event.
Glenda Keyes is the worried mother desperately looking for her daughter. How could Neil turn down her pleas for help?
During the Vancouver Olympic Games, a young woman is reported missing by her mother. The police do all they can to help find her, but events turn more sinister when one of the detectives investigating the case disappears as well.
Deception is a fast-paced thriller and although a short story, contains elements that frequently reminded me of a full-length novel. The plot is well thought-out and Ms. Lewis has a clever way of filling the mind with perplexity and suspicion as to who and why. Now, there are a couple of things some readers may not appreciate but opinion is subjective whereas the believability factor is not something I struggled to accept.
