Emma Cross is an ex-CIA agent who now works for St. Kilda’s consulting. She is in her thirties, very attractive and athletic. She speaks numerous languages and understands even more.

Mac Durand was once on a Special Ops team until the CIA left them to die. Now he is a transit captain moving expensive yachts between ports. He is from the depressed town of Rosario, Washington.

Expensive yachts are disappearing, and St. Kilda’s has been hired to investigate the matter. The yacht, Blackbird, is thought to be the next target. To add to the confusion, terrorists seem to be involved with the threats and have targeted an unknown major city. Emma and St. Kilda’s strong arm Mac into joining up with them, and it is now up to Emma to stop both the yacht thieves and the terrorists.

There is a lot going on in this story. A depressed small town with three factions and lots of crime is the perfect place for terrorists and thieves to get together, and Rosario’s location is perfect for the story. Mac and Emma are interesting characters, and both their skills and chemistry add much to the story. The plot is fast moving and intricate, making it hard to put down, so I did not until the last page. Ms. Lowell is a master of suspense
