What began as a somewhat normal childhood changed the day Lee Teadora reached puberty. Her days of playing with friends in the sun ended in blisters and sores, and from then on she has existed in a world of moonlight and shadows.
Centuries of his life have been devoted to this one cause, and Luke Régens is anxious to fulfill his duty. He is the guardian for the family of the Sacrosanct, and over the ages he has waited for the one.
Working security during the graveyard shift would probably annoy most people, but for Lee it really is her only option. Suffering from PMLE means no day shift for her, ever. However, like anyone else, she too would like to see a little action once in a while, and unfortunately that is exactly what she gets. Her boring little life erupts in total chaos, and at its epicenter is the incredibly handsome and stalwart Luke Régens. He enlightens her on who and what she really is, but more importantly, what she is meant to be, if he can keep them both alive long enough to make it happen.
When you cannot imagine another twist in the story of a vampire, along comes one more to pique your interest. This book is all about the good, bad, and the ugly on the twisted branches of a vampire family tree, and the woman capable of transforming their existence. She is, however, completely unaware, and seemingly unconcerned with the seriousness of the situation, which I feel inhibits the reader’s empathy for her character. All in all this is a darkly humorous, suspenseful, and sweetly romantic read.
