Rita Sawyer grew up with parents who achieved unbelievable feats. Knowing that because of her size she would never be able to compete in the same competitions, she threw herself into becoming the best stunt double imaginable.
Steven of Norstead has been in a funk ever since his brother Thorfinn was presumed dead. Even though they never found his body, it has been assumed that whoever killed him dumped him where he would never be found.
One minute Rita is competing with other adrenaline junky women to be in the female Navy SEAL program and the next she is in a totally different world. Steven cannot believe that a beautiful woman has come out of what he thought at first was a sea creature. Rita has finally come to the conclusion that she must have time traveled, as that is the only explanation for where she is and why Steven’s chauvinistic ways have her all tingly instead of all angry. For his part, whenever Rita gets dominating, it makes him realize he is crazy about her. But can he accept the fact that she really is from the future and if so, does that mean she may leave him at any given moment?
I absolutely love reading Sandra Hill! Her novels are always so rich and vibrant; a mix of romance, hot sex, laughter, and men you want to squeeze one minute and choke the next (especially the part about the collar). Dark Viking is another great example of her writing talent as Rita, a woman used to being a strong woman, is pitted against a man who expects her to be a weakling like the other women in his household. The characters within the pages are so vivid and colorful that by the time you are near the end you feel as if you have personally met them and have become their friend. I hope that Ms Hill will continue with her Viking Series. I have found it to be one of those precious gifts that allow us to explore our passion for novels that give us the simple joy of reading.
