Lucinda Kirkpatrick is an erotic romance writer who has been on the New York Times best sellers list. She has lived all her life in Arizona. After moving into her new neighborhood, she gets along well with the neighbors, especially one.
Jared Eagle is one quarter Arapaho Native American blood and a playwright. While waiting on the finalizing of his condo, he stays with good friend, Tom. It is there he becomes acquainted with Lucinda.
Lucinda is really impressed with her new neighbors. After meeting Jared, they hit it off. He is trying to work on a screenplay, and she is doing research for her books. Jared finds it strange how a shy woman can write erotic romance. Yet, she is a breath of fresh air. He loves calling her Luz. He is eager to learn all about her and when she opens up her heart about her past damaged past, he shares in her pain. As their love rapidly blossoms, they move in together then afterwards an old girlfriend lays claim to Jared. When Luz becomes pregnant, will it tear the lovers apart or will the old girlfriend cause a dramatic turning point in their life and destroy all their happiness?
Dark Lover is a story that I found truly interesting. I thought it was rather cute the way Jared could not keep his eyes off the form of Lucinda’s body, every now and then. The other secondary members have fresh situations with occurring circumstances as they make up the rounded community. Kate Hofman pens a read that continues to move at a good pace allowing the reader to become part of the community. I found the characters refreshing and robust, and thought they each told a great story. I know I will not forget Lucinda’s and Jared’s romance.
