Carmella Ramirez’s family owned a samba studio until her father died in a car accident. Now Carmella is the seamstress for the new owner’s girlfriend.
Sean Kalmus is DJ Cal, a disc jockey from Ireland. His ability to use magic to enhance his music is a gift from Maponus, the Celtic God of Music. Maponus has also made Sean a Chosen warrior of Creation.
Carmella has had some horrific nightmares, but until Sean and his troupe shows up in Rio de Janiero, Brazil, she has no idea these awful events are actually occurring. Carmella’s body is being used by a succubus to bring married men to a special club where they are used to feed the demonic god, Guaricana, and his followers. Sean realizes Carmella is his Comhcheal –harmony- when he meets her for the first time. He must use the powers of his god and Carmella’s to free her from the succubus and put an end to the reign of terror Guaricana and his believers have brought to Rio.
Any story that kicks off with a hot Irishman has my attention, but it was not just Sean that kept me turning the pages. It was the way the author incorporated the Irish music with the fiery Latin dance moves, then added the danger of the evil in Rio that held me in my seat. I will admit that my hips swayed with the imaginary beat as I read each page. Good and evil meet within the covers of this book and the passion never ceases to draw the reader further into the story. Ms. Mayburn has done an incredible job with this novella, and I certainly cannot wait to see what the next one has in store for readers.
