CRESTED BUTTE DREAMS
Rating: 3 Cups
What do you do when the world conspires to tear everything out from under you? Sarah Hansen is about to find out.
It was never his intention to hurt Sarah, but Jake Hansen has put himself in a position to do just that. There is always more, bigger, and better, and Jake cannot help but want it all.
Sarah is terrified to learn that she is one step away from having breast cancer, but with her marriage already on shaky ground, radical surgery could tip it over the edge. Jake leaves the decision up to her and swears he will love her no matter what, but fidelity becomes a whole different matter. He really tries to be the husband Sarah deserves, and moving them to the beautiful ski resort town of Spruce Haven seems like the perfect plan. Sarah is thrilled with the move, but within weeks Jake is acting like his old self, and she is once again fighting the fear that her marriage may be doomed for good.
There certainly is no black and white answer for Sarah and her marriage problems. I find it admirable that she tries diligently to save a marriage of twenty-four years, but at the same time, I think she is sticking her head in the sand. I really have no qualms about my feelings for Jake; he is a pig, and although he realizes it, he needs to grow a pair and admit it. I do however wholeheartedly commend the fact that Sarah takes responsibility for her own actions and does not lay total blame on her husband, and I love how she does so with such poise and grace.
