Frankie is at her family’s country home avoiding her gross neighbor, and on holiday from her high-pressure financial career. The ghost of a Civil War era relative lures her into the past to save the family. Frankie does not plan on going, but for once, things do not go her way.
Benjamin Craig is trapped in the house and has known Frankie all her life. Now grown up, she must come to his time or he will be lost. Unfortunately, when they go back in time, he will not remember her.
Frankie knows that to get back to her time, she needs Ben’s help. All she has to do is get Ben healthy, prevent him from marrying a shrew, and save the family farm, all amazingly enough falling in love.
What impressed me the most about Craig’s Legacy was the amount of research done by Ms. Campbell. This gave the story enough depth to keep me interested and fascinated. Even farm life was engrossing, and as a farmer’s daughter that was a great accomplishment. Another part I loved was how all the book’s questions were answered. I loved this! The romance built with good timing, and the characters grew, but did not make the dreaded emotional jumps. Frankie never stopped being modern, but I loved that she understood the danger she was in. Benjamin was a great damaged hero and very strong in many ways. The supporting characters filled in all the spaces. I also enjoyed the relationship of the families; there was no melodrama in the book, but plenty of drama, suspense, and tension. Yea! Way to go Ms Campbell.
