Tion and Kail are two sprites who are traveling when they encounter someone who will change their lives. Complete opposites in nature, this couple balance each other. Tion is the calm and considerate one, while Kail has a fiery temper.
Conway is on a quest. This quest is supposed to break the curse against him; the curse of bad luck. He will encounter things that will give him a little more insight into the world around him.
As Conway journeys down a quiet country road, he discovers he has angered a couple of sprites, Tion and Kail. After Conway tells them of his quest, Tion talks Kail into continuing on with Conway, even though Conway ’s bad luck has rubbed off on the two sprites. Along the way, the sprites learn a lot about Conway’s story. Everyone involved learns that things are not always as they appear, and myths are not always simply exaggerated stories. Sometimes there is an element of truth to be found.
I am a woman who always enjoys a story with a fairy-tale-esque feel and Conway ’s Curse certainly contains that feeling. Conway is such a relatable character with his superstitions and his shy nature. As with any fantastical tale, the reader learns about never judging a book by its cover. I found myself often laughing at the antics of the sprites and cursing with them as the journey led them to places they never would have imagined. With magic, mayhem, and a lot of fun, Mr. Michael has woven a spell that will only be broken when the last page is turned.
