Lindi Baker is a famous singer and has been since she was a child. She is ruthlessly controlled by both her mother and her manager. Despite her hard work, she has few friends, no social life, and virtually no money.
Vittorio D’Este is an Italian billionaire. He is devoted to his nephew and very protective of him. He is a very private man and very powerful.
Vittorio is incensed at the idea of his nephew being taken advantage of by a gold digging entertainer and is determined to put an end to the budding romance. Lindi Baker has been written about in the tabloids and the stories were not complimentary. He has decided to summon her to his private island to find out her true intentions. Unbeknownst to Vittorio, Lindi is not involved with his nephew; her dresser, and supposed friend, is and has pressured her to cover for her. Lindi is nothing like she is portrayed and everything Vittorio wants in a woman.
I enjoyed this story. The premise of a young and innocent woman wrongly accused is a common one, but the author has breathed new life into the concept. Lindi is not a weak woman despite the controlling people around her, and she grows stronger and more determined as the story goes on. Vittorio is not particularly likeable in the beginning of the story, but when the reader is told the reasons for his attitude, he is easier to understand. The plot flows smoothly to a satisfactory conclusion and is easy to become involved in the story.
