Nothing hurts worse than wanting someone you cannot have, and there is no way Calvin Waters will ever have his best friend Waylon Matthews. Appearances mean everything for the star quarterback, but living a lie is killing them both more and more every day.
Watching the two young men go from best friends to walking on eggshells around each other has Professor Evan Hawke making his move. He knows without asking what is going on between them, and he hopes they will understand his interference.
Cal has known his whole life that he was different, but it was not until he met Waylon that it really hit home; he is in love with his best friend. Waylon is the college sweetheart, and it is an image he cultivates by dating the head cheerleader, but his heart lies elsewhere. Evan teaches their history class and is more than willing to step in, and put these two on the right track, his only hope is that they have room enough in their hearts for one more. The sexual tension builds to an all time high for these guys, but when it erupts will there be anything left of two best friends and a very lonely professor?
Cal and Waylon are red hot, and you want more than anything to see them come together and be able to share what they feel for each other, but the odds against them are tremendous. It hurts to imagine the bigotry these two young men will face if they are open about their feelings, and you fully understand Waylon’s desire to keep up appearances. Evan is a little more of a mystery in this whole scheme, as you never really get a feel for what his life was like before he met Cal and Waylon, and what his thoughts are before becoming involved in their lives. The potential for these three is tremendous, and with their varied personalities and desires, I can only hope to see more of them in the future.
