Cherry was a formal model and adult movie starlet when she was turned into a vampire. Attracting men with her vampire “squint,” she hooks up with handsome Alex, only to find out he is a police detective investigating missing women.
Alex is shocked to find out Cherry is a vampire, but handles it with a cop’s aplomb. Attracted to the honesty she shows, he helps Cherry hide when her maker, Willoughby, comes to threatens her.
Cherry’s ex, Constantine, gets involved as a link to the vampire council. While Alex is looking for other missing women, he and Cherry are also trying to prevent more attacks and save Cherry’s friends from certain death from Willoughby and an evil member of the council.
Cherry Stem is a great start to what I hope will be a long series. The characters are fully developed and rational. This allowed the dialogue to stay fresh and exciting. One of my new favorite lines from a vampire book is Alex showing why he is not going to tell anyone about Cherry: “Nothing says ‘captain material’ more than a cop claiming he has a vampire locked in his basement”. I loved that line. The sex is phenomenal between Alex and Cherry, and Constantine just exudes hotness. I look forward to more from Ms Lazu and Loose-ID.
