Book 4 in the Sea Island Wolves Series
Rating: 4 Cups
Lacie works for the local vet and is very competent. Her boss is Lycan, and she has grown up with their ways. She has heard that Lycan courtship is really romantic and has often fantasized about being adored like that.
Chance is the heir to the local alpha and a natural leader. He and his best friend, Davis, have known for a long time that Lacie is their mate. He is the more arrogant of the two.
Davis is a bit milder than his buddy and is destined to be the nurturer in the family. This is not to say that he is not arrogant and domineering, just a bit less so than Chance.
A demon is targeting Lycan mates, and Chance and Davis’ mate is in danger. She has met and been identified by the serial killer demon. Chance and Davis are determined to claim her before any harm can come to her. Their courtship is less than satisfactory to Lacie, who expected romance and flowers. Reality is a kidnapping and two men who show her little affection and less romance while they expect her to follow their commands and directives without question. Lacie is definitely not a doormat, and the two will have a difficult time claiming their mate.
It seems like forever since there has been a new Sea Island Wolves book and this one is really enjoyable. I love Ms. Penn’s concept of Lycan Society and this book goes into a bit more detail about their society and origins. The plot is exciting and filled with erotic love scenes, action, and danger. The demon angle could have been developed a bit more, but the story is very well written and will hold your attention from the first page to the last. Chance and Davis are in for a surprise if they think that Lacie is a meek and mild woman willing to do what they command, and I had a lot of fun reading about their education and love story.
