She may have been a party girl as a teen, but Karina Strauss left that life behind long ago; unfortunately, her sister did not. Sasha’s downward spiral into drugs has only gotten worse, and Kari is terrified that it may be too late to save her.
Every day Adam Cortez patrols the border checkpoint into Tijuana and fights to keep drugs and illegal immigrants out of California. He believes in the work he does, and would love more than anything to put the drug lords out of business.
The sweat rolling off of Kari has more to do with nerves than the heat, and the closer she gets to the border the worse she feels. She thought it was bad when she brought her friend Maria across, but getting mixed up with drug smugglers to save her sister is a thousand times worse. Adam could easily lose his job associating with Kari, let alone helping her, yet the pull of attraction goes far beyond the physical. Kari is in deep, and has no clue just how deadly things are about to get, but Adam will put himself in the crossfire before he lets Kari get hurt.
The adrenaline rush you get from reading this is nonstop. The sexual heat building between Adam and Kari combined with a cutting edge of danger keeps you glued to every action. I love Adam’s unfailing drive to do what is right, but even more scintillating is his failure to ignore his body’s reaction to Kari. I am seriously hoping Adam’s best friend Ian gets his time in the spotlight, because he and Maria have one amazing story to tell.
