Jessica Allen studies biology hoping to find answers to her past. She accepts a job as an assistant to Alexia Moore and soon learns the woman has other plans for her.
Adrian Dillon likes his privacy. After a long ago mistake, he learns women cannot be trusted, so he has kept his distance from them ever since. Preferring to be alone, every winter he volunteers to stand watch in the most isolated cabin in the mountains.
Adrian is drugged and captured by Alexia, the one woman outside his family who knows his secret. When he regains consciousness, he meets Jessica, who has also been drugged. Unwilling to let Alexia succeed with her plan, they escape and realize they share a special bond.
Captivated is an interesting story. I enjoyed learning a little bit about Ms. Love’s shifter world—the virus that infected Adrian and Jessica was a new twist and fun to read. I had a difficult time rooting for Adrian and Jessica as a couple. They did not seem to share a solid connection and their relationship left me confused throughout the book. The final chapter was also confusing and in the end I felt like I missed something.
