Miranda Wake is every cook’s nightmare. As a food critic for the Délicieux magazine, her barbed tongue has chefs everywhere quaking in their aprons.

Adam Temple is opening Market, a new restaurant with old fashioned views about food and what the clientele are eating. He is hosting a party full of elite people when he realizes they are all drunk and no food has been served. Determined to fix the problem, his worst fears are recognized when the sharp-tongue critic rips up one side of him and down another.

The next morning, Miranda comprehends that she has challenged Adam Temple into letting her be part of his kitchen crew for a whole month. Ready to dig up some dirt on the sexy chef, she is not prepared for the sensual pull he has on her. As the days fly by, her conscience tells her that the secrets within the kitchen should stay that way while her bank account states that she needs the money for her brother’s college tuition. But once her feelings of lust turn to more, Miranda will try to stop the presses, only to have a madman come close to killing those she loves.

Debut author Louisa Edwards packs a punch with her written words and storytelling. Can’t Stand the Heat is the first novel in her Recipe for Love series, and what a start it is. All of the characters are portrayed in such a revealing light that you will remember them for quite some time. I love the sensuality that brewed between Miranda and Adam, as well as the conflict that she has with struggling with her conscience. I have become a fan of this author and cannot wait to read more in her series, along with any other works she comes out with!
