CALL ME IRRESISTIBLE
SUSAN ELIZABETH PHILLIPS
William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollinsPublishers
Rating: 5 Cups
Ted Beaudine is about to marry Lucy Jorik, the daughter of a former United States president. He is a legend in his town and considered to be perfect.
Meg Koranda has two parents that are just as famous as Lucy’s. But where Lucy is demure and ladylike, Meg has a tendency to screw up quite a bit.
Meg is all set to celebrate her best friend’s coming nuptials except for one teeny, tiny problem. Lucy does not seem all that happy to be walking down the aisle toward Mr. Perfect himself. Determined to save her friend, Meg somehow gets the wedding called off and becomes the most hated woman in Wynette, Texas. Now she will have to face down angry townspeople, an ex-groom who cannot stand the sight of her, and a man who gives her the willies but somehow targets her as his next lover. What else could possibly go wrong?
Call Me Irresistible is a treasure of a novel that will hold your interest from the very first page. I have always loved Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ work and this just supports my thought process. The plotlines are smooth and funny as the characters deliver their lines with humor that Ms. Phillips is famous for. The emotional turmoil Meg causes as well as what she goes through tugs on your heartstrings even as you want to laugh at some of the scenarios she finds herself in. This contemporary romance is a sure bet if you are looking for a fantastic read that will grab you from the get-go and have you rereading this tale time and again.
