Cari North is a successful mystery writer who lives with her parents outside the Louisiana town of Bordelaise. She is very close to her family and her Cousin Susan.
Mike Boudreaux is a millionaire businessman and employer of Cari's Cousin Susan. He is known as a corporate shark, but is loyal to those he cares about.
While on a walk in the woods Cari sees her ex-fiance digging a grave. She runs for her life, right into a tornado. The storm kills her entire family, including her cousin Susan who looks almost identical to Cari. She takes on Susan's identity, but Susan's boss immediately realizes that she is not his P.A. After explaining the situation to him, she asks for his help in exposing Lance as the killer he has become. They just have to convince everyone she knows that she is Susan and not Cari.
Cari's tale is a very exciting one and it will be hard for the reader not to fall in love with Mike and his neighbor Daniel right along with her. I loved the setting and the violent storm opens up all sorts of possibilities for mayhem. The plot will have you at the edge of your seat. Mike and Cari's love story is tender yet fraught with danger. Lance is a kind of pathetic villain, but deadly nonetheless. I could not figure out what Cari saw in him, but her taste has definitely improved.
