Rosalind Llewellyn is part of the Druid Vampire Slayers. But when she teams up with her enemy to fight a rogue vampire, it leads to a bond that is unbreakable and ends up keeping her from being trusted by all of her former alliances.
Christopher Ellis knows that since word of his engagement to Rosalind has reached the Cult of Mithras, it is only a matter of time before he will be sentenced. He is therefore shocked when Rosalind shows up at court again, since he has not heard from her in a year.
Rosalind has been notified that King Henry VIII is going to nullify his marriage to Queen Katherine so he can be with Anne Boleyn, a woman who is reported to be a vampire. Once she verifies these facts, Rosalind must seek help from those she can trust to help her thwart the seductive vampire from controlling the King and, through him, the kingdom. But Christopher has a long-standing past with Anne and her “brother” George, one that makes Rosalind question his loyalty. In a place where loyalty and honor is as fleeting as snow on a warm day, can Rosalind trust that Christopher will aid her in destroying a woman he has considered a friend for many years?
I think Blood of the Rose is a very well written novel full of court intrigue, dangerous adversaries, and steamy passion. I found that Kate Pearce has brought the time of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn to life with this historical tale that has a paranormal twist to it. I do think a reader could better understand this tale if they had read the first novel in the series, as I definitely felt as if I had missed out on some important events that happened in the previous book. Still, there is enough storyline in these pages to keep you reading and watching to see what will happen next to these two passionate characters. It will be fascinating to see where the author takes the story next.
