Hal Bergson is a computer programming teacher when he is not hunting dangerous vampires and rogue shape shifters. After his cousin is abducted, he finds a vampire to make a trade.
Monique Dubois teaches history when she is not searching for the taste of blood on her lips. The vampire had no idea a computer nerd would entrap her in a room with no way of escape.
Hal needs Monique as a trade for his cousin who has been kidnapped. Once he takes her hostage, he is certain the beautiful vampire will seal the deal. It was his family business to slay dangerous vampires. His cousin was in training to destroy vamps, but instead he was captured. As his guardian, Hal feels responsible for the mishap. Instead of destroying this one vampire, there will be no execution for Monique. Not happy about being confined, Monique is in her mating prime and must find a way of escaping Professor Van Helsing—her new name for Hal. She is not any merciless killer, but if he pushes her buttons wrong, she might show him a different side. When she learns the real reason for her capture, will she agree to his plan, or use him for her mating cycle?
Blood Hostage was so consuming that this reader hated for it to end. Hal and Monique are unique in their own way, yet they work on a relationship that makes them likeable to the reader. Margaret L. Carter pens a bold and sassy story the audience will enjoy. She sketches her characters strong, with passions that explode when no one is expecting them. The action, chemistry and flourishing romance puts a distinctive spin on the story. This indeed was an engaging read that had this reader screaming for more.
