Bernadette Hogan is one tough woman who uses her brains and brawn to guard whomever her boss tells her to. She thought guarding self-made millionaire Jeremy Bridges would be a piece of cake, until her body started telling her she wanted more than just a paycheck from him.
Jeremy grew up in a world where he was not sure where his next meal was coming from. Now that he has all the money he can imagine, he uses his influence to get all of the play things he wants and that includes the women who flock to him.
Bernie should have known that eventually Jeremy would get under her skin. After a horrendous fight full of anger ignites and unleashes her passion, Bernie quits and walks out determined to stay as far away from the playboy millionaire as possible. But that one time of passion is going to cost them in the form of a bundle of joy. Now Bernie and Jeremy must find a way to work together and see past each others’ facades and to the truth neither wants to reveal.
Black Ties and Lullabies is a great tale that starts off with intense emotions and ends the same way. I thought how Ms. Graves gives us Bernie and Jeremy, both of whom seem to be lost when it comes to getting the support they need from others, continues to play a major part in the storyline throughout the pages. Bernie and Jeremy continue to grow and learn about each other as they experience the emotional upheavals of pregnancy and all it entails. Then you have the added bonus of watching Jeremy grow and mature into a man any woman would be proud to call her own, as well as seeing Bernie learn to lean on those who only want to help her support all she shoulders. This is a book with heart.
